Our child safety education relies on continued repetition both in our school and at home in discussions with parents. The aim is to educate children through repetition on to avoid dangerous situations as well as physically how to fight back if an abduction attempt occurs

Conversations to have regularly with your children

  • They are safest staying in groups, if they are younger, with an adult you select.
  • To always inform you of plan changes and who they are going with and to get permission from you always.
  • That a stranger is someone they don’t know and can be friendly, polite and kind but may still be dangerous.
  • That not all strangers are bad but you must still be cautious because you don’t know who is good or bad by the way they look and act.
  • If a stranger approaches they must keep distance, stay out of reach and not give any personal information to the stranger.
  • To move away towards safety if someone makes them feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
  • How to get help if they are in trouble, from staff at shops, or businesses or banks etc or from safety houses on their routes.
  • To tell a trusted adult every time someone approaches them or makes them fell uncomfortable.

Walk with your child to determine

  • The safest route for your child to follow to and from school or activities, avoiding isolated areas, difficult streets to cross, and other hazards.
  • Where to go and who to ask for help if kids have a safety problem on the route. As mentioned before, safety houses, people you know, businesses such as shops, banks, police station.
